Demolition of Units 2 & 3, 116 Clovelly Road, Bucklands Beach

John, I wish to thank you and your team for the splendid job you did on the demolition of the buildings at 116 Clovelly Road.

This was a high profile project that required Nikau to respond promptly to a request from Manukau City Council to demolish buildings that were a risk to public safety. The buildings were demolished under the emergency powers defined in the Building Act 2004.

The demolition works encountered hazards from collapsing buildings and significant land subsidence and these were extremely well managed through the health and safety plan. The possibility of hazards for children attending the adjacent school were well covered by the traffic management plan and we received positive feedback from a school board trustee.

Your team conducted themselves professionally throughout the demolition period and were very receptive to Councils needs and cultivated a very good relationship with residents in the area. They responded to the changing conditions and they upheld their own high standards for health and safety. At the conclusion of the work they left the site clean and tidy.

I would have no hesitation in engaging Nikau Contractors Ltd on future projects that require their services.

SPO Project; Preparation, Demolition and Re-cladding of the Electric Arc Furnace Area

"In realation to the above project, we wish to formerly thank you for your services.

The project was viewed by all at New Zealand Steel as being exemplary in respect of compliance and safety. It also provided a great example of the benefits that accrue from a collaborative and communicative approach to a complex project within an operational environment.

Of special mention were the daily meetings involving all parties; contractors; engineers, supervisory staff and operational personnel. Through this initiative there was very little lost time or effort through miscommunications but rather through informal and formal coordination the project progressed smoothly to a sucessful conclusion.

Although seldom mentioned, the attitude and enthusiasm of your staff was infectious and assisted in providing a safe and happy working environment.

New Zealand Steel thanks you for the time and effort put into your planning and work and looks forward to offering Nikau Contractors Ltd further opportunities to tender in the future"

Kinleath Lime Store

"I have inspected the above site and am satisfied that your work is 100% complete as of Monday 11th October (2004).

I would therefore like to take this opportunity to record our appreciation for your speedy response to our request and for the manner in which you performed this task.

Because of our past successful association there is never any heistation in calling upon Nikau Contractors to carry out demolition work out at Kinleath site. I did initially think that this job may have been too small to bring someone all the way down from Auckland so I am pleased that you made that initial contact. I am not knocking the abilities of the other contractor that I had lined up for the work, but even he was the first to admit that the experts made the work look so easy and relieved him of a lot of responsibility.

Your efforts in this instance have been so clean and efficient that I am sure that many people on site are not yet aware that you have completed the job and have left. They probably all saw you arrive because your vehicles and equipment are always well presented. To me that is always a good indication that we are dealing with a professional contractor and I guess therefore that others on site probably felt the same.

I appreciate the time and obvious effort that you took to prepare your job safety plan. That in itself was a very professional presentation and obviously works well for you given the way in which your guys took onboard our safety inductions and concerns for their welfare as well as that for our own personnel and plant.

Thank you again. I have enjoyed our brief association and look forward to [perhaps] working with you again at some time in the future."

Centerport, Wellington

"I confirm that Nikau were the successful tenderers on this contract carried out between Jan and April 2003. The work involved the demolition of a 3500m2 approx concrete walled shet and adjacent concrete wharf. Nikau provided and operated the equipment on this contract in a safe and professional manner.

Included as part of the contract was the crushing of much of the concrete demolition material and the recycling of this material as basecourse for new paving to replace the footprint of the two structures. The contract was well supervised and the work was completed within the time frame allotted and to meet and in places exceed the specifications set down"
